On June 19, 2024, the Head of the Legal Department of the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering, Dmytro Pukha, took part in an event dedicated to discussing the results of the Ombudsman's Office in 2023, which was called "The Way of Dignity: The Fight for Human Rights." The event was organized by a representative of the Office of the Ombudsman in the Rivne region together with the Rivne Regional Council, the Rivne Regional State Administration and the Rivne City Council.
During the year, the Office of the Ombudsman received more than 2,000 appeals from the Rivne region. This is a significant increase compared to the previous year, when only 951 applications were registered.
The main report was followed by two panel discussions.
The first was entitled "Opportunities outside the home" and concerned the protection of the rights of internally displaced persons. In particular, it was about socialization and adaptation of new levels in our community.
The second panel discussion focused on military integration after return: challenges and strategies.
Dmytro Pukha emphasized the importance of such measures to increase legal awareness of citizens and the need for active cooperation of various state institutions to ensure proper protection of citizens' rights. He also noted that our university, as a higher education institution that trains future lawyers, can play an important role in the field of human rights in the region.
Such measures are important for consolidating the efforts of various institutions in supporting citizens and protecting their rights in a difficult time for the country.
