In Rivne, exchanged experiences in preserving and improving the Ukrainians’ mental health. As part of the working visit to the Rivne region by the Coordination Centre for Mental Health under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and regional coordinators from across the country, officials visited the network of municipal institutions in the region, including our University.
The event was opened by the Vice-Rector for Development and Communications, Andrii Podlevskyi, who emphasized the importance of implementing the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska at NUWEE. The university approaches the program's implementation comprehensively, as said Vitalii Prokopets, Head of the Public Relations Department. Among the highlights were:
- The university offers education in the specialty 053 Psychology, which is in high demand among applicants. Importantly, in addition to academic training, the Department of Social Sciences provides students with opportunities to participate in numerous seminars and workshops, including canistherapy, fluid therapy, art therapy, and more.
- There is an opportunity to study in the specialty 227 Physical Therapy, Ergotherapy, which is also highly relevant. For students of the institute and all who wish, additional courses in preventive and therapeutic massage, self-defense, and pre-medical aid are available.
- The university has a Sector of Practical Psychology and Social Affairs based on the Studentship Centre. The specialists regularly conduct consultations and provide psychological assistance to students and employees, and sometimes to students' parents. The sector also run a large number of workshops and trainings aimed at comprehensive personality development, adaptation, and mental health support.
- Veterans Development Centre operates within the university, offering comprehensive support to veterans by providing access to essential resources and psychological assistance to ease their adaptation to civilian life.
- A student space has been established at the university with the support of the Red Cross of Ukraine and donors from the German Red Cross under the #BraVo program grant.
Oksana Zbitneva, Head of the Coordination Centre for Mental Health at the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, was pleasantly impressed by the diverse activities of the technical "water management" university. She also emphasized the importance of cooperation between universities and local enterprises, such as the Rivne Regional Veterans Hospital.
