NUWEE is the winner of the competition of the Polish-Ukrainian Youth Exchange Council 2022

18 students of the National University of  Water and Environmental Engineering and the Rivne College of Economics and Technology became participants in the project of the Ukrainian-Polish Youth Exchange Council under number UKR/2022/W/0084, entitled "We swim and save from the Dnieper to the Odra".

The project envisages youth integration meetings lasting 6 days, from September 5 to 10, 2022, in the cities of Slava and Głogów, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland, with the aim of a deeper understanding of the traditions and culture of both countries, as well as master classes on providing first aid on the water, which is the main topic of the project. Boleslav Wrymouth First General Lyceum in Glogow became a partner of our university and project coordinator. Unfortunately, due to the war, the project will be one-sided, but we hope that the acquired knowledge and sincere meetings of students of both educational institutions will contribute to the development of their personalities and lead to strong friendship.

The first three days of the exchange program were interesting and intense, because the students took part in integration classes and games with Polish participants, training on providing first aid to the injured and assistance on the water, a mini-regatta on the lake in Slava on boats and kayaks, meetings with the Historical Society. The trainings were conducted by experienced instructors of the Slavic Water Rescue Service. Thus, students practiced first aid techniques on the water, what to do if a person is drowning, recovery measures, exercises in groups using phantoms, practicing simulation cases, for example, examining injuries, immobilizing limbs, transporting an injured person, etc.

And we have even more events ahead, in particular: a seminar on entrepreneurship from representatives of the Legnica specialized economic zone, a competition for modern advertising of ecological products, a meeting with the city self-government bodies of Glogowa and a presentation of our university, work on a project of a calendar and posters with instructions for handling water, folk dance training with an instructor, an excursion to Czocha Castle and a meeting with the directorate of Boleslav Wrymouth Lyceum in Glogow.

We are sincerely grateful to the project coordinators, director Mr. Janusz Kosalka, Ms. Elzhbeta Zyvytska and Ms. Elzhbeta Soya for their warm welcome and rich program, as well as Oksana Zayachkivska, associate professor of the Department of Finance and Economic Security, for her substantive help in finding and establishing a partnership. Halyna Vlasiuk, a leading specialist of the Department of International Relations and Iryna Oplachko, an associate professor of the Department of Marketing, became the coordinators and curators of the group from the NUWEE.
