IEAWM started training future specialists

In accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education", the Statute of NUWEE and based on the decision of the Academic Council of the University, the academic and research Institutions of Water Management and Environmental Engineering will have a new name: the academic and research Institute of Energy, Automatics and Water Management.

After all, from now on the institute will include the department of automation, electrical engineering and computer-integrated technologies.

According to the acting director of the institute Andrii Safonyk, the prerequisite for such a decision is the prospects for the development of the institute in a new format, the logical relationship and complementarity of all areas of training. Water, energy, and automation are the synergy of areas that will now train future specialists at IEAWM. Joining the department of automation, electrical engineering and computer-integrated technologies should strengthen and bring the activities of the institute to a new level, create a symbiosis of branches for their more modern development, increase the rating of the institute and its attractiveness, will allow to attract even more applicants and strengthen the Scientific Schools. "Today, any production without automation is not interesting, not modern, not the latest. This primarily applies to the "water" industries. And the energy field of training is and will probably remain the most relevant not only in Ukraine, but also abroad. The institute already provided training in the following areas: thermal power engineering, renewable energy sources, and hydropower engineering, so it was worth strengthening the energy component of the institute with a powerful specialty that is available at our university - electric power engineering, electrical engineering, and electromechanics.

Energy is the basis of economic development. It provides technological processes in industry, provides heat and light. In addition, geographically, we are located between two nuclear power plants, which also need specialists. After the war, due to damage to energy equipment - thermal power plants, hydroelectric power stations, transformer substations, transmission lines and the urgent need for their restoration, this industry will need specialists the most. Therefore, the specialty acquired in these areas will be very relevant," says Andrii Safonyk.

Therefore, since September 8 of this year, the following departments have been operating at IEAWM: automation, electrical engineering and computer-integrated technologies, water engineering and water technologies, geology and hydrology, hydropower, thermal power and hydraulic machines, hydrotechnical construction and hydraulics. Currently, the institute's academic council and scientific-methodical quality council are being formed. The council of employers will be expanded, and students will elect the student council of IEAWM. Changes are also taking place in the management of IEAWM - deputy directors are appointed in accordance with the areas of work.

By the way, since July, as mentioned earlier, the institute has been headed by acting director - Andrii Safonyk.

Before his current position, Andrii Petrovych worked as a professor at the department of automation, electrical engineering and computer-integrated technologies. He defended his candidate's thesis in 2010, and his doctoral thesis in 2016. Both scientific studies related to the development of innovative principles of design and adaptation of resource-saving solutions for the optimization of water purification processes, taking into account automated control.

The scientist is an academician of the Engineering Academy of Ukraine, an expert of the Scientific Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for the examination of projects of scientific works, scientific and technical (experimental) developments of young scientists, a member of the Scientific Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (technical sciences).

In addition, Andrii Petrovych is the head of the research laboratory of robotics and control. He manages the training of graduate students and students, also he is the head of scientific research works. For his merits, he was repeatedly awarded by the university administration, the Rivne Regional Council, and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
