National University of Water and Environmental Engineering (NUWEE) has implemented the first round of the comprehensive adaptation online course tailored for international students: "Integration and Adaptation in Ukraine: First Steps" within the framework of International Students Adaptation and Integration / INTERADIS project (619451-EPP-1-2020-1-NL-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP).
This comprehensive course spans 20 hours of lectures and 10 hours of practical sessions, providing a deep dive into various aspects crucial for the smooth integration of international students into Ukrainian society. The course covers an array of topics designed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills for a seamless transition. Here is an overview of the key themes:
- Basic Information About Ukraine: An introduction to the country, its geography, and essential facts that form the backdrop for international students.
- History, Culture, and Traditions of Ukraine: Delving into the rich tapestry of Ukrainian history, culture, and traditions, this segment aims to provide students with a nuanced understanding of their new cultural milieu.
- Main Monuments and Tourist Attractions of Ukraine: Exploring the architectural wonders and cultural landmarks that make Ukraine a unique and fascinating destination.
- Rights and Obligations of International Students in Ukraine: A comprehensive guide to the legal aspects of studying in Ukraine, ensuring that students are well-informed and secure in their new academic environment.
- Passport and Visa Regime Requirements: Detailed information on the necessary documentation and procedural requirements, simplifying the bureaucratic process for international students.
- Cross-Cultural Communications: Equipping students with the skills needed to navigate and thrive in a multicultural environment, fostering a sense of unity and understanding.
- European Values: A discussion on the values integral to European societies, facilitating a smoother integration for international students.
- System of Higher Education in Ukraine and Legalization of Educational Documents: A detailed overview of the higher education system in Ukraine, along with guidance on the legalization of educational documents.
NUWEE is committed to providing international students with the necessary tools to thrive in their academic journey and beyond. During the course informal trainings, networking sessions, visiting public places for celebration of institutional and national holidays, etc. were held. Students from Equatorial Guinea, Republic of Moldova, Turkey, Republic of Belarus, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Azerbaijan and Germany. The course has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from participating students, who laud its effectiveness in providing practical insights and facilitating a seamless integration process.
