Study visit to OTH, Germany

From April 21st to May 5th, 2024, a study visit took place at the Eastern Bavarian Technical University of Amberg-Weiden in Weiden, Germany, as part of the Erasmus+ project "INTERADIS/Adaptation and Integration of Foreign Students".

The project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union. Registration number of the project: 619451-EPP-1-2020-1-NL-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP.

The study visit, developed by the German partner, was quite comprehensive and covered both cultural and educational components. It included integration workshops like the World Cafe Workshop, Green Office Workshop, informal communication with students of the German university, and more.

The main goal of the visit was to gain experience working in a Buddy group and integrating into a new intercultural environment. Students had the opportunity to participate in lectures and workshops at the Eastern Bavarian Technical University, as well as undergo an intensive German language course. We are sincerely grateful to our project partner, OTH, for their hospitality and interesting training and learning program for students.

Here is Alexander Chernyuk's feedback on the study visit, a student of the Institute of Energy, Automation, and Water Resources:

"My two-week visit to Germany as part of the Erasmus+ KA2 INTERADIS project "Adaptation and Integration of Foreign Students" turned out to be exciting and extremely educational.

We were invited to a study visit to the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg Weiden, located in the heart of Bavaria, in the picturesque town of Weiden. Although the university was founded relatively recently, it already hosts students from various countries around the world, including China, Japan, Korea, India, and Turkey. We were expected to enhance our language skills and engage in cultural exchange with German and international students. This experience truly exceeded my expectations.

The journey began with a meeting with a university representative in the picturesque town of Weiden. After meeting with other students participating in the Interadis project, we began our German adventures. Despite the first day being tense due to adapting to a new environment, with the help of the organizers, we quickly adapted.

Over the course of two weeks, we had the opportunity to participate in various activities, including German language learning sessions, which we had almost daily, as well as workshops on leadership and intercultural competence, Painting Workshop, World Cafe Workshop, Green Office Workshop, and Digital Workforce. It is also worth mentioning the excursions organized by the university for us in Weiden, Amberg, Regensburg, Nuremberg, Munich, which allowed us to get to know the culture and traditions of Germany up close. Particularly impressive for me was visiting the Maker Lab at the Technical University of Amberg, where 3D printing production was located. There, we were shown student projects based on entertainment games, which was fascinating.

And of course, the excursions to the cities of Germany: Weiden, Amberg, Regensburg, Nuremberg, Munich, and meeting with local residents were highlights, allowing us to get to know the culture and traditions of Germany up close. I also had the opportunity to join the International Student Club, where we participated in various events, including workshops.

Overall, this trip was an incredibly valuable experience for me, helping to broaden my horizons and enrich my understanding of other cultures, as well as deepen my knowledge of working with the adaptation of foreign students within the Buddy Program.

I am grateful to the Interadis project, my university, and the organizers for this opportunity and unforgettable impressions from my stay in Germany. Danke!"
